If you want a solid and dark finish, you can apply a wood sealer and let it dry according to the manufacturer specification. For the solid finish apply some clear polyurethane to protect it and gives you a hard look. For rifles that are finish with oiled linseed oil finish apply very thin layer of carnuba wax and use a soft cloth but apply it after 3 days after putting the finish. This is to ensure that the oil is dried up. After that you can assemble it again and admire the beauty and power of your rifle.
